Why Sound and Frequency is the Future of Medicine
A recent historical context for the blossoming of holistic healing systems in the U.S. and some of my observations working with sound

Sound is quantum… it influences creation beyond time and space. Our energy bodies are made up of sound, light, geometry and ether, dancing together to form the elements of our physical bodies. This invisible dance of frequencies underly our thought forms, emotions, body chemistry and ultimately, the dimensional reality that we perceive through our bodies, intuition and sense perceptions. We get to be and create from wherever our conscious perspective is. Sound and frequencies influence our streams of consciousness that lay the foundation for the way that we see and move throughout our lives.

The last century of history in the United States has seen a Dark Age in our medical system, putting an emphasis on pharmaceutical sales, emergency surgeries and segmenting the body into fractal systems that are analyzed and “treated” independently of the whole organism of the body, mind and spirit.
Research in the past decades has been confirming what we have already known intuitively and learned through the wisdom passed down from our families, ancestors and ancient wisdom.
We live on a land mass that was inhabited by indigenous peoples for thousands of years before us, who understood how to live in rhythm, synergy and respect with the seasonal cycles and the elemental and nature forms, the plants, trees, animals, weather patterns and moons. Only in recent decades has our society grown a greater consciousness around the importance of preserving, sharing and celebrating the experiential wisdom of indigenous elders through storytelling and ceremony.
While the early colonizers did not have the depth of ancient knowledge and wisdom that the native peoples held in their relationship to the wholeness of existence, their awareness of their health being integrally connected to the earth remained in tact through their own folk medicine and home remedies that often involved growing and harvesting common medicinals and making salves, tinctures and teas, many of which are evidenced by adds and recipes in early newsletters starting in the late 1700s.
In the late 1700s and early 1800s, Samuel Hahnemann introduced the concept of “like cures like” as the core principle of homeopathy, a form of energy medicine that dilutes substances thousands of times to their vibrational essence. By identifying very specific constellations of disease process (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual), a specific vibration in the form of a homeopathic remedy is used to neutralize the root vibrational cause of a disease process.
In the United States, homeopathy was part of the soldier’s medical kits during the Civil War, and as I learned while taking a tour at the Tenement Museum in New York City, it was one of the primary forms of medical care used by the Jewish communities living in the tenement slums of Lower Manhattan during the late 1800s to early 1900s.
In 1874, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still introduced his philosophy and approach to treating the whole body with osteopathic medicine, and in 1897, Daniel David Palmer opened up the Palmer School of Chiropractic.
At the turn of that century, Dr. William Garner Sutherland introduced cranial osteopathy, which works with involuntary “primary respiration” of the body’s internal fluids, membranes and cranial bones.
All of these systems of bringing the body back into homeostasis use principles of sensing natural rhythms, opening up the free flow of energy and fluid circulation in the body. The founders of all of these systems understood the sacred geometries of the human body in perfect balance and how to “tune” the body into structural harmony, resulting in physical health, nervous system regulation, hormone balance and proper immune function. While they were listening to the body using a variety of diagnostic techniques, the underlying principles of these holistic medicine systems can essentially be traced back to frequency and sound.
The gradual formation of the pharmaceutical industry and synthetic substances, industrialization, war and fear-inducing propaganda and brain washing took a toll on people’s conscious remembering of their connection to the planet, the love that drives all creation and the interconnection of the web of life that starts from within.
Amidst social and political suppression during the World Wars, holistic systems of medicine continued on silently in the background and really took off in conscious awareness from the 1970s onward, including the reemergence of interest in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, which was original brought to the United States in the mid-1800s from the Chinese people who settled here during the Gold Rush.
Since the ‘70s, many energetic healing systems have branched out of the earlier turn of the 20th century holistic healing systems. Myriad vibrational and energy healing modalities have grown in popularity that stem from older concepts and ancient wisdom that held the keys of creation through sound and frequency.
Technologies like the Rife machine, many derivative frequency generators, devices that create scalar waves, binaural beats or light therapy are becoming ubiquitous and more affordable. It’s common now to find practitioners who use sound therapy, tuning forks, crystal singing bowls or gongs to reset the nervous system and alchemize old traumas without having to cognitize the details of a pathological process.
I recently discovered that the University of Virginia here in Charlottesville has a ecoacoustics department that houses a Coastal Futures Conservatory that tracks environmental trends with soundscapes and is researching ways that sound can help restore various ecosystems.
It’s no mystery why people have been waking up to frequency as a means to support their healing process and as an adjunct to a balanced lifestyle. The spiral of time is such that the dichotomy of people waking up in their conscious awareness alongside an American population dying of cardiac, kidney, liver and respiratory disease along with growing numbers of cancer, Alzeimer’s, mental illness, diabetes and obesity, has people stopping to wonder how much longer our current healthcare model can last before it faces a massive overhaul or collapses completely.
The silver lining to all of this is that there is a growing social receptivity to holistic and integrative care, and greater consciousness around prevention, lifestyle and good ol’ fashion diet, exercise and rest, with a sprinkle of yoga and meditation. More and more peer-reviewed research is coming to light and shared in public social media platforms, quickly illuminating what people recognize as being possible within the spheres of vibrational and sound technology to support human health.
It is becoming clear that the stage is set for integrative health perspectives and ancient wisdom to become a normalized and recognized as essential within our social and mental constructs of health in the U.S.
Turning chaos into order - the zero point field
My recent research around sound has revolved around the queries of, What happens when the body, mind and spirit reach a still point, or zero point energy field? and How does sound influence the body’s reorganization into a more coherent state? This is a concept that I became introduced to back in 2014 and 2015 when I was studying John E. Upledger’s Craniosacral Therapy system and the branches of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy that subsequently developed.
With these systems, the practitioner is listening for the rhythms of the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) that influences the healthy movements of the central nervous system, including the rhythms of the spine, cranial plates and structures of the brain. In my experience of using these modalities with clients, I would sense a certain imbalance in the left and right sides of the body or a blocked flow of the CSF, and at a certain point, the person’s system would reach still point.
In this zero point field, the rhythm of the CSF stops, and it’s as if creation itself becomes silent. During this period of time, clients reported seeing colorful lights. Some witnessed childhood, past-life or off-planet memories, or saw images of people and places. This state would last anywhere from one to 20 minutes in some cases, and I would just sit there with my hands gently resting on their heads and listen. Their breath would slow down and in some cases would even increase at a certain point, along with their heart rate.
At the end of the experience, the person would take a deep full-body breath and then the rhythm of the CSF would start moving again, albeit in a more harmonic order with greater left-right side balance and more fluidity in its movement up and down the spine and throughout the cranial zones.
How does it all translate to sound?
Tuning forks are effortless ways of empowering change in our life. Their tones are archetypical ideas which spiral around a still point. When we hear them, we are drawn into a still point, and our nervous system naturally shifts into a new tone. The chaos of shifting into a new tone sometimes appears as an uncomfortable feeling, pressure, or need to change how we are standing or sitting. Then it is gone. Most of the time we just shift without even noticing the chaos because our awareness is focused on the new tone.
- John Beaulieu, Human Tuning: Sound Healing With Tuning Forks
In the last six months, I started noticing this phenomena happen in coaching and sound sessions, where I would be guiding someone through their internal landscape, asking questions and bringing through the sound and frequencies through the tuning forks and my singing voice.
All of a sudden, I would get the intuitive hit to be silent and wait. In those moments of silence, I knew that something in the field was reorganizing. It was time for me to let go and trust whatever was happening, knowing that the intention of the person and their connection to Source is informing the transformative field.
I believe that this is where the true alchemy is happening – in this zero point field. Some people might call it the Void. Others might call it a Quantum Shift. Others might call it the Space Between the Notes. From my experience, this is when reality itself starts to leap onto new timelines of possibilities – for healing, insights and life direction. To my delight and surprise, in the moments coming out of this still point, I see and hear clients sharing their insights and downloads. New ideas arise, physical pain disappears or happy memories that were once suppressed come to light like a lightbulb moment.
From my perceptual awareness, the song of the person’s energy field comes into tune, and I will literally see a beam of light flow directly through their central channel from above and below. Sometimes I will be guided to bring in new tuning forks or light language frequencies or a new song will come through my voice.
When the person completes the alchemy that they set through their intention, the energy field will start to close naturally, and I am pushed out. We formally disconnect our energies and review any ways to support them in integrating their new experience and insights.
Why I no longer practice acupuncture
My natural gift is that I function like a human tuning fork. I am constantly harmonizing myself wherever I go, and often times will be humming and singing spontaneously with the environment. I have always been sensitive to the energies around me, but in the last couple years, my perceptions have heightened one-thousand fold and are also changing as I evolve.
Throughout my years of practicing oriental and integrative medicine modalities, I had a habit of singing between clients. It took me a little while to realize that I was actually clearing and harmonizing my energy and the energy of the space. As I became more confident in my abilities, I started singing with some of my clients, who would go into deep trance-like states with the vehicle of my voice guiding them inward.
Over time, I learned that I could create fields of transformation using my singing voice, and now with the accompaniment of the tuning forks, without needing the acupunctures needles, or for that matter, any form of diagnosing within the scope of my oriental medicine licensure.
My relationship to Oriental Medicine changed because I changed. When I started to remember myself as a multidimensional being with a much larger context beyond this human experience, I became interested in alchemy and creation on a totally new level. The most profound shifts in my own conscious awareness were facilitated with acoustic alchemy and tuning forks. When you step through a threshold in consciousness, there’s no turning back.
Taking what you’ve learned and the time to integrate it into your human experience with a healthy and balanced lifestyle is important. I have been learning this through my experience, as the last few years have brought me some big perspective shifts that I am still integrating. I have a sense that part of what I’m up to in this lifetime requires me to step through my own thresholds of awareness so I can illuminate what is possible for others and guide them through theirs.
I still have a deep respect and appreciation for Oriental Medicine and so much gratitude for my learning experience. The intricacies of the meridian system and elemental cycles through Five Element Theory are still alive in my awareness as I work with individuals and nourish a holistic perspective within my understanding of how the human biofield works.
In future articles, I want to share with you more about the alchemy of tuning fork frequencies, how to tune your body to the Perfect Fifth using tuning forks, and how tuning fork frequencies impact cellular structures and altered states of consciousness.
Thank you for reading my article. I would love to hear your comments, insights and experiences related to this topic. :)
With love,
Melanie
